The All-Ukrainian Cello Competition “Odesa Classical Music Competition” will be held 25-27 September 2026, in Odesa.
І round
The first round is held online.
Deadline for submitting applications to participate in the first round of the competition - 01/09/2026
1. J.S. Bach — Prelude, Sarabande and Gigue from one of the six Suites for Solo Cello, at the candidate’s choice.
2. One caprice or etude of the candidate's choice:
- Alfredo Piatti — “12 Caprices for Solo Cello”, Op. 25
- David Popper — “High School of Cello Playing”, Op. 73
II round
Will take place in Odesa on September 25, 2026.
The program of the second round may include pieces performed by the participant in the first round.
1. J.S. Bach — Prelude, Sarabande and Gigue from one of the six Suites for Solo Cello, at the candidate’s choice.
2. One caprice or etude of the candidate's choice:
- Alfredo Piatti — “12 Caprices for Solo Cello”, Op. 25
- David Popper — “High School of Cello Playing”, Op. 73
One work for cello and piano of the candidate’s choice:
- Mykola Lysenko — “Gavotte in F major”
- Mykola Lysenko — “Elegy «Sorrow» («Sum»), Op. 39”
III round
Final (Accompanied by the orchestra)
Will take place in Odesa on September 27, 2026.
The third round will be accompanied by the National Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Ukraine Hobart Earle.
